If you have already had an opportunity to explore different parts of Barcelona, you have probably noticed how the gastronomic scene in the city´s districts and neighbourhoods differs depending on its location. Leaving the city centre and going towards the north, to the beautiful Gracia, for instance, you can see how not only the look of the streets changes, but also the restaurants and bars located there differ from the ones you are used to going to in the old town. The overall feel of the places is somehow more authentic, and the menu is less tourists-oriented.
The neighborhood of Gracia has become the city´s fashionable epicentre for many reasons. Its restaurants offer is definitely one of them. In the recent years it has become a very diverse multicultural centre when it comes to gastronomy. Sctrolling through the streets of the neighbourhood you will find many spectacular restaurants with not only the traditional Catalan cuisine, but all kinds of offers from other parts of the world.

La Pubilla

La Pubilla is that one restaurant that you may not notice passing it by, because it does not have an expensive fancy design. Instead it is a very cosy Catalan restaurant located just in front of the Mercat de la Llibertat. It offers homemade kind of food, the one that will make you feel like you have come to a dinner at your Catalan friends´ house. The restaurant has variety of seafood and Catalan dishes prepared with market produce, daily lunch menu and an extensive wine list. It opened in August of 2010 by the chef Alexis Peñalver. The restaurant is busy during the day time and is famous for its midday menus (€12) and its breakfast offers. Its delicious food and a glass of vermut or wine is a must if you happen to be there. It is not the cheapest place you will visit, but definitely the one you will remember.

Chido One

The Chido One restaurant is a little Mexican heaven, located in the heart of Gracia. It is the second of the 3 Mexican restaurants on Torrijos street, and we reccommend you to check this one out. It is open every day for lunch and dinner time. What is great about the restaurant is that you never get bored from its constantly changing menu and its Mexican gastronomy. Try the delicious tacos, quesadillas and share all of them with friends. Something to keep in mind when going there: they do not accept credit cards, only cash.

La Pepita

La Pepita is a gastrobar that is just ideal for those people that just love simple but original and unique tapas. The restaurant offers some very delicious takes on well-known meals, and never fails. When you least expect it manages to surprise you with some great mixture of flavours. And the atmosphere is great, add to that a really good service, and you have a full package for your perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner with friends. They also offer a midday menu for a nice price. Try their pepitas and have one of the gin and tonics, we highly reccommend.

Located in the heart of Gracia, Felice, is a restaurant that by its appearance may not seem like it, but is a complete gastronomic delight. All the way from Holland, the cuisine will not leave you indifferent: Dutch takes on the common Mediterranean dishes, but also some that you probably haven´t tried before.
They also offer a midday menu that includes drinks, first and second meals, and dessert for a great price. There is a very cute terrace perfect for your ideal evening meal.

Gata Mala

Gata Mala is one of the hidden treasures of Gracia. It is the ideal restaurant-bar to come and share some of the most delicious tapas and have a few beers with friends. Inspite of being quite small, it has an extremely fun atmosphere that will make you want to stay all day and all night, munching on the the delicious treats that the restaurant offers. A little surprise is that with each drink, they serve you a free tapa – what a great and affordable place?
