What you need to know about the Gay Pride and the LGTB-friendly neighbourhood of Barcelona

It is no secret that Barcelona is one of the most open-minded cities in the world, offering its visitors all kinds of activities and attractions related to diversity and freedom. It has quickly become one of the most beloved destinations for the gay community, as in many parts of the city, including the rapidly developing LGTBI district, where visitors of the city can find services, shops and accommodation dedicated specifically for the representatives of the community. 

Gaixample

The LGTBI district, known also as Gaixample, is located in the Eixample neighbourhood, and is bounded by the Balmes street, Urgell street and the Aragó street. Once you come to the Gaixample neighbourhood you can see the amount of gay-friendly bars, restaurants and shops, rainbow flags displaying pride from the balconies and posters of the LGTBI-related events are everywhere. The Gaixample neighbourhood is located in a central area, offering all kinds of sights and attractions. From there, you can easily get to the old city centre and the most iconic Modernist uildings. You can also easily reach the shopping area, as Passeig de Gracia and the Barcelona Shopping Line are located in a walking distance. For those who love a good party, the LGTBI-friendly establishments and parties can be found in many other districts of Barcelona, such as Raval, Sant Antomi, Poblenpu

Gay Pride BCN 2021 (29-30 June)

As you may have heard, Barcelona is holding one of the most important LGTBI festivals dedicated to the community – Gay Pride BCN.

The annual event takes place in order to show some more love to the members, as well as to those who need it. It also intends to show respect and embrace the diversity. Usually the activities happens form mid of June. However, this year, the events will be divided into two parts, a more limited proposal in June and an extended proposal in September. They will have online and televised programme that you can enjoy from 22 to 27 June.

The headlining activity, of course, is the institutional act of International LGTBI Pride Day that will fill the street with Pride and acceptance on June 28th. During the 3th and 4th of September, Pride BCN Celebration will take place at Passeig Lluis Compays, near Arc de Triomf.
