One of the most charming districts in Barcelona is surely El Borne
Last week we told you a few things about the secrets of the Gothic quarter. In this article, we want to recommend you a walk through one of its neighbourhood districts. You guessed it, we talk about the Borne.
The borne, formerly called the Ribera del Riego Condal, is today synonymous with the whole neighbourhood of La Ribera, the economic centre of the city between the 13th and 15th centuries. Its area is bordered by Picasso, Princes Street, Paseo del Borne, Sant Maria de Mar, Pla de Palau and Marqués de la Argentera avenue. For simplicity in Laietana street and Barceloneta.

Admiring the famous 14th century basilica of Santa Maria, you will reach the Paseo del Born, a charming street that has been able to adapt to the demands of the new times without turning a back on its past.
In the medieval period the Born (Borne), as its name indicates, hosted the tournaments and jousts. There were also the processions of Holy Week and the first Carnivals.
